Man, 55, Dies After Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash in NE Columbus

COLUMBUS, OH – A 55-year-old man has succumbed to injuries suffered in a pedestrian crash early Wednesday in northeast Columbus, according to FOX 28.

The fatal incident took place near East 5th and Peters Avenue, prompting an emergency response shortly after 1:00 a.m.

Details remain limited, but officials said the victim was struck and fatally injured by a car. Witnesses said the driver got out of the striking vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

Responding officers recovered the vehicle on a stretch of East 5th Avenue a little east of Interstate 71. Investigators learned that it had been reported stolen out of Obetz on September 10.

An investigation and search for the fleeing driver remain ongoing.
