FRANKLIN COUNTY, OH – One person was injured Tuesday afternoon due to a wreck involving a semi-truck and a tanker truck near south Columbus, reports The Columbus Dispatch.
The incident, which unfolded shortly before 12:51 p.m., closed a span of U.S. Route 23 between Interstate 270 and London Groveport Road.
A preliminary investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office indicates the semi struck and overturned the tanker truck, which was transporting the chemical flocryl acrylamide 50.
First responders took one person to a local hospital for unspecified injuries. Officials said the patient was last listed in stable condition.
While the chemical in the tanker remained intact and contained in the tanker following the rollover crash, crews took care to transfer the material before moving the vehicle.
Part of London Groveport Road between Hibbs Road and Parsons Avenue was blocked, but later reopened. By 7:00 p.m., U.S. Route 23 was also reopened to traffic.
