Lipitor

Lipitor Lawsuits:
Lipitor (generic name atorvastatin) is a statin drug that is used to control high cholesterol levels that can lead to heart attack and stroke. However, studies have found that Lipitor increases the risk of Type 2 diabetes and other serious health complications.

What is Lipitor?
As Pfizer’s premier cholesterol-lowering drug, Lipitor belongs to a group of drugs called HMG CoA reductase inhibitors or statin. It is the most popular statin in the U.S. that works by reducing levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood, while increasing levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. Lipitor is claimed to help lower the risk of stroke, heart attack, or other heart complications in people with Type 2 diabetes and coronary heart disease.

Why File a Lipitor Lawsuit?
Though it was approved by the FDA in 2011, Lipitor has been linked to a number of serious health problems and side effects, including muscle injury, kidney problems and diabetes.
  *  In 2012, the FDA recommends that doctors perform liver enzyme tests before statin therapy because these have been associated with biochemical abnormalities of liver function.

  *  The result of a 2013 study indicated that Lipitor patients may face an increased risk for musculoskeletal injuries and diseases.

  *  As of August 2013, numerous Lipitor lawsuits had been filed in U.S. courts on behalf of patients who allegedly developed Lipitor-related Type 2 diabetes.

Here are some of the signs or symptoms associated with Lipitor medication:
Type 2 Diabetes
    Blurry vision
    Areas of darkened skin
    Increased hunger, thirst and urination
    Unexplained fatigue and weight loss
    Slow wound healing

Oligura or Anuria (decreased or non-existent urine production, respectively)

    Cardiac arrhythmia

    Fatigue
Yellowing of the skin or eyes
    Loss of appetite
    Dark urine
Pain in the right upper abdomen

Reasons to file:
  *  If you experienced financial hardship through the utilization of health care facilities, diagnostic procedures and chemotherapy; and loss of earnings and/or earning capacity.

  *  If you are experiencing physical, mental and emotional distress from caring for a loved one who is suffering from medical problems caused by Lipitor medication.

  *  If you want to hold manufacturers accountable for the distribution of such a dangerous drug.
