Actos Lawsuits

Actos (pioglitazone) is a Type 2 diabetes drug that is prescribed in tablet form. Taken once a day in initial dosage of 15 or 30 mg, it is used to help control blood sugar levels.

What is Actos?
Actos (pioglitazone) is a type 2 diabetes drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1999. Together with proper diet and exercise, this oral medication serves as a stabilizer of a patient’s blood sugar level. Soon enough, it became one of the best-selling drugs of the manufacturer Takeda Pharmaceuticals. Actos is not for use in treatment of Type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Why File an Actos Lawsuit?
According to the FDA in 2011, patients taking Actos for longer than 12 months run higher risk of bladder cancer. In April 2014, Takeda and its business partner Eli Lilly and Company was ordered to pay $9 billion lawsuit settlement by the federal court of Louisiana after a jury discovered that it did not disclose pertinent information linking Actos with cancer. Furthermore, the FDA considers the connection between Actos and the risk of congestive heart failure significant enough to require Takeda to issue a black-box warning on the drug's label.

Here are some of the possible symptoms or signs associated with Actos medication:
Sudden unusual pain in your hand, arm, or foot
    Muscle pain or back pain
    Frequent, painful or bloody urination
    Swelling or rapid weight gain

Reasons to file:
If you experienced financial hardship through the utilization of health care facilities, ongoing care or prescription medications; and loss of earnings and/or earning capacity.
If you are experiencing physical, mental and emotional distress from caring for a loved one who is suffering from side effects caused by Actos.
If you are burdened by the cost of funeral expenses due to heart failure, bladder cancer, or liver damage caused by Actos.
If you want to hold Takeda Pharmaceuticals accountable for releasing such a dangerous drug.

If you or a loved one is taking Actos, you may be at risk for heart failure, bladder cancer, liver damage or other life-threatening side effects. Jami S.
