COLUMBUS, OH – Authorities were dispatched to a two-vehicle wreck early last Friday, February 21, in west Columbus that claimed the life of a 22-year-old woman, reports NBC4i.
The fatal accident took place on a span of Roberts Road at Renmill Drive. Columbus Police arrived at the scene shortly after, and the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene at about 12:54 a.m.
Officials say the woman was operating a Toyota Camry eastbound in the westbound lane of Roberts Road when her car struck a Toyota Corolla head-on. The impact sent the Corolla spinning counterclockwise before it came to rest in the second westbound lane. The Camry arrived at a stop only after proceeding eastbound and entering the westbound lanes.
The driver of the Camry succumbed to her injuries at the scene, confirmed first responders. Two other adult patients were rushed to a local hospital and clinic in stable condition. At the time of NBC4i’s last update at 2:41 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, one patient remained hospitalized and the other was being treated by a doctor in an unspecified setting.
An investigation remains in progress. No charges or citations have been announced at this time.
