IRVINE, CA – On Thursday, December 19, 2024, Orgain announced a recall involving a single batch of its 30g Protein Organic Plant Based Powder – Chocolate 2.0 lb because of the potential presence of undeclared peanut residue.
Individuals who live an allergy or major sensitivity to peanuts are warned that consuming this product may put them at risk of a serious life-threatening allergic reaction.
Officials say the nationwide-recall affects products in lot code 4172-02-P, which was made available for purchase in retail stores and online. As shown in the photo attached to the FDA communication, the product comes in a 2.01 lb plastic tub with a blue label and a printed expiration date of June 20, 2026.
Orgain initiated the voluntary recall “out of an abundance of caution” after one consumer reported an allergic reaction. However, the company says it was unable to identify any discrepancies following a thorough review of the batch’s production process. As of this writing, Orgain has not received any reports of illness connected to the potential undeclared allergen.
Anyone who may have a purchased a product from the affected batch is asked to immediately discontinue use.
