Driver Fatally Hit By Vehicles After Exiting Truck in West Columbus

COLUMBUS, OH – A truck driver lost their life Wednesday evening, January 16, after being struck by two vehicles in west Columbus, according to NBC4i.

The fatal incident was reported on Fisher Road, outside the Eddie Bauer warehouse, at around 6:21 p.m.

Columbus Police said the victim was operating a white tractor-trailer westbound on the road when he stopped the truck in the left-turn lane. A preliminary investigation indicates he then exited the vehicle and entered the left westbound travel lane. Moments later, he was struck by a westbound Honda CRV in the same lane. The victim was lying in the right lane of the westbound road when he was then hit by a maroon Lexus RX350.

First responders pronounced the truck driver deceased at the scene shortly after.

The case is being handled by the Accident Investigation Unit.
