Authorities Investigate Morrow County Crash That Killed Police Officer

MORROW COUNTY, OH – A two-vehicle collision Monday morning, February 3, near the Morrow County Airport claimed the life of a young central Ohio police officer, reports NBC4i.

The fatal collision unfolded on a stretch of U.S. Route 42 in Cardington, shortly after 5:30 a.m.

Investigators say a man was operating a Ford F-150 westbound on the highway when, for reasons still unclear, he veered off the roadway’s right side and then overcorrected before the pickup ran to the left side of the roadway. Moments after entering the eastbound lane, the F-150 collided with a vehicle driven by the officer, a 20-year-old Cardington resident.

First responders rushed the young woman to an area hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the Ford received treatment for minor injuries.

Mount Gilead troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol continue to investigate.
