Delaware County Wrong-Way Crash Claims Life of Driver, Leaves Another Seriously Hurt

DELAWARE COUNTY, OH – A 50-year-old man died late Thursday following a two-vehicle collision in Liberty Township that left another person seriously hurt, reports ABC6.

The accident took place on the southbound lanes of U.S. Route 23 at about 10:40 p.m.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the victim, a Columbus resident, was operating a 2015 Honda CRV southbound on the northbound highway. At one point, the CRV struck a 2017 Ford Transit Van head-on.

First responders pronounced the driver of the CRV deceased at the scene. The other driver, a 41-year-old also of Delaware County, was taken to Riverside Hospital for major injuries.

It was not immediately apparent whether impairment or distractions contributed to the fatal crash, but the OSHP continues to investigate. Both drivers were found to have been wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.
