FRANKLIN COUNTY, OH – A pair of multi-vehicle crashes Saturday night near Hilliard led to the death of a 36-year-old Columbus woman, according to NBC4i.
The events were said to have unfolded within minutes of each other on the northbound lanes of Interstate 270 past Roberts Road, with the first crash occurring at 8:44 p.m.
While three vehicles were initially involved, no major injuries were reported until the second collision at 8:54 p.m. The traffic backup that formed from the first crash led to the a four-vehicle chain-reaction wreck. Preliminary details show a Pontiac struck a Honda Civic driven by the victim. The Honda Civic then collided with a BMW, which hit a Honda CRV.
First responders rushed the driver of the Honda Civic to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
A section of northbound I-270 was closed during the emergency response but was reopened shortly before 12:00 a.m.
No charges or citations have been announced at this time.
