5 Sent to Hospital After Downtown Columbus Crash Involving Police Cruiser

COLUMBUS, OH – A two-vehicle wreck early Monday in downtown Columbus landed five people, including a police officer, in a hospital, reports NBC4i.

The collision unfolded in the area of South 4th Street and East Rich Street at about 2:35 a.m.

According to officials, the officer was responding to a report of a fire in the area and had their emergency sirens activated. At one point a civilian car, described as a white sedan, collided with the front-end of the cruiser. Preliminary details indicate the sedan’s passenger side doors sustained damage.

The civilian vehicle’s four occupants were transported to a local hospital for injuries considered non-life-threatening. First responders also took the officer to the hospital for an evaluation.
