Woman Killed in Crash on Southbound I-270 Near Lincoln Village South

COLUMBUS, OH – A two-vehicle wreck early Sunday in southwest Columbus claimed the life of a 30-year-old woman and left two others injured, reports NBC4i.

The fatal wreck occurred on the southbound lanes of I-270 south of I-70, near the city’s Lincoln Village South area. Columbus police and first responders were dispatched to the scene shortly after 2:30 a.m.

According to an early investigation, the woman was driving a Mazda southbound on the highway when she turned left in an attempt to use the emergency turn-around area with the intention of making a U-turn onto northbound I-270. During the attempt, the woman’s Mazda was struck by another car that was traveling in the lane to the left.

The driver of the Mazda was pronounced deceased by respond medics with the Columbus Division of Fire.

While the other driver was not reported hurt, two of their passengers were transported to local hospitals. No information regarding their conditions has been shared, but officials said the patients are expected to make a recovery.

An investigation by the Columbus Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit remains underway.
