COLUMBUS, OH – Authorities have confirmed an additional two deaths following a head-on collision early Monday in east Columbus that killed a 32-year-old woman, reports NBC4i.
The fatal accident happened at the corner of East Livingston Road and Burlington Avenue, shortly before 3:38 a.m.
According to preliminary details, the 32-year-old woman was operating a blue 2010 Nissan Altima eastbound on East Livingston Avenue. A 19-year-old man was behind the wheel of a red 2007 Dodge Charger that was heading westbound but also in the eastbound lanes. At one point, the front-end of the Dodge, which did not have its headlights activated, collided head-on with the Nissan.
The 32-year-old woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
First responders rushed the driver of the Dodge and his passenger, also 19, to a local hospital. Officials said the driver succumbed to his injuries at 8:08 a.m. that morning, and the 19-year-old passenger was pronounced deceased on Tuesday at 1:26 p.m.
Officials said a third passenger who was also transported to the hospital was listed in stable condition.
An investigation remains open and ongoing, but the Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit had initially named the driver of the Dodge as a suspect.
