1 dead, 3 left injured following wrong-way crash in east Columbus

COLUMBUS, OH – A woman lost her life early Monday as a result of a two-vehicle collision in the Shady Lane neighborhood of east Columbus, according to NBC4i.

The fatal collision occurred on a stretch of East Livingston Avenue at South Hamilton Road, or State Route 317. It was first reported at around 3:38 a.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates the victim was driving a blue sedan when the vehicle was hit head-on by a driver in a red sedan who was driving in the wrong direction with their headlights off.

First responders pronounced the woman in the blue sedan deceased at the scene.

The driver of the red sedan, along with a third person, both suffered critical injuries and were rushed to a local hospital. Another victim was said to be listed in stable condition.

A section of East Livingston Avenue was shut down for an extended time for the response and investigation. By about 9:40 a.m., all travel lanes were reopened to traffic.

Officials have not confirmed any pending charges or citations at this time.
