PIKE COUNTY, OH – A 42-year-old woman from Beaver lost her life late Monday afternoon, August 5, due to a collision on State Route 32 near west Piketon, according to Scioto Valley Guardian.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the accident happened at the intersection with Smokey Hollow Road at about 5:34 p.m.

According to preliminary details, the woman was traveling as a passenger in a car that was beginning to cross State Route 32 (State Route 124/James A. Rhodes Appalachian Highway). At one point, it was hit by a second, unspecified vehicle heading eastbound.

Officials did not say whether the victim died at the scene or at a hospital. No information about the involved drivers has been made available, and no pending charges have been reported.

A span of the eastbound highway was shut down for the emergency response and investigation, which remains ongoing.
