Child killed, 2 others injured in rollover crash off I-77 in Tuscarawas County

TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, OH – A 4-year-old girl died last Wednesday evening, June 26, due to a crash off Interstate 77 near Strasburg that hurt two other people, including another child, reports WTRF.

The single-vehicle rollover wreck occurred near milepost 88, north of the exit to U.S. Highway 250, at about 5:47 p.m.

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers said a 38-year-old Dover man was driving a maroon 2007 Honda Civic northbound on I-77 and was traveling with two children, a 4-year-old girl and a 7-year-old. For reasons still unknown, the man lost control of the vehicle, causing it to run off the side of the road, strike a raised grass median, and then overturn.

The young girl, who suffered serious injuries, was rushed to Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The driver and the boy were transported to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital for injuries considered minor.

An investigation remains underway, but OSHP officials said alcohol does not appear to have contributed to the fatal crash.
