FRANKLIN COUNTY, OH – Authorities are searching for a driver believed to have been involved in a crash Monday evening that fatally injured a motorcyclist, reports NBC4i.
The incident unfolded at the intersection of Brown Road and Frank Road, at about 6:20 p.m.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was operating a 2002 Honda motorcycle westbound on Frank Road. At one point, a Honda Civic 4-door turned from Frank Road and onto Brown Road, directly in front of the motorcyclist, causing them to strike the Honda’s back passenger side.
Officials said the driver of the Civic continued north on Brown Road, failing to stop and render aid.
The rider, who was rushed to an area hospital, was pronounced deceased at 6:46 p.m., about 26 minutes after the crash.
An investigation remains open and ongoing, but the sheriff’s office has since described the fleeing vehicle as an either tan or gold Civic LX from the early 2000s, with aftermarket wheels that are possibly six-spoke. Its trunk is also believed to have a small spoiler.
