COLUMBUS, OH – One person lost their life due to a multi-vehicle crash early Friday in northeast Columbus that left five others hurt, reports FOX 28.
The accident happened on the southbound lanes of I-71, north of the exit to 17th Avenue, at about 12:06 a.m.
According to officials, a woman was driving a Kia Forte northbound in the southbound roadway when the vehicle’s passenger side was hit by a Ford Fusion. Moments later, the Forte struck a southbound Jeep Grand Cherokee head-on. The Forte was then hit by a Volvo semi-truck traveling southbound, and the impact caused the driver of the Forte to eject.
First responders pronounced the driver of the Forte deceased at the scene.
Three adult patients from the Jeep were transported to Grant Medical Center in stable condition, while the drivers of the Ford Fusion and the semi received treatment at the crash site.
No charges or citations have been announced at this time, but an investigation remains in progress.
