According to the FDA, two lots of 300-gram packages of “Colussi Cantuccini Chocolate Drops” chocolate chip cookies have been recalled by D. Coluccio & Sons due to the potential presence of almonds, a major allergen not disclosed on the product’s labeling.
Individuals who live with an allergy or severe sensitivity to the nut are warned against consuming the products to avoid a serious, life-threatening allergic reaction.
Distributed to retail stores and via mail orders across the U.S., the recalled products come packaged in 300-gram (10.58-ounce) blue bags under UPC (Universal Product Code) 8002590006020. They can be identified by either lot number 3540152 and BBD (Best-Before Date) 15-01-2025, or lot number L354150 and BBD 29-05-2025, which are printed on the back of the package.
While D. Coluccio & Sons have not received any reports of illnesses in connection to the allergen, the company announced the recall on January 21, 2025, after officials learned that the labeling for the almond-containing product failed to disclose the presence of the allergen. Further investigation indicates that a temporary lapse in D. Coluccio & Sons’ production and packaging systems led to the problem.
Anyone who may still have a package of Colussi Cantuccini Chcolate Drops cookies is asked to please take the item back to the point of purchase to receive a complete refund.
