Teen Passenger Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash at South Columbus Intersection

COLUMBUS, OH – An 18-year-old man died early Saturday following a single-vehicle hit-and-run collision in south Columbus, according to NBC4i.

The fatal incident unfolded in the area of High Street and Fornof Road. Shortly after 2:30 a.m., Columbus Police had already responded to the scene.

Officials say an unknown driver in a 2015 Infiniti Q50 veered off the roadway and entered a snowbank before destabilizing. It then collided with a pole at the intersection’s southwest corner. The impact, which sent the car spinning, also sheared off the vehicle’s back door.

The victim, who was a passenger in the rotating vehicle, was ejected onto the roadway. First responders rushed him to an area hospital, and by 3:15 a.m., he was pronounced deceased.

According to the Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit two adults fled the scene of the wreck and sought out medical treatment. At this time, investigators have not publicly identified the driver, and the cause of the collision remains underway.
