COLUMBUS, OH – A DWI suspect faces multiple charges following a high-speed crash last Friday, January 17, in southwest Columbus that left them injured, reports ABC 6.
According to officials, deputies had tried to stop the suspected impaired driver in the area of Wicklow Road and South Sylvan Avenue, but the suspect sped away erratically, prompting a police chase at around 3:40 a.m.
At one point, the suspect vehicle spun out after losing control near West Broad Street and Georgesville Road, causing it to hit a Franklin Township cruiser as well as a county cruiser. Shortly after, the suspect crashed their vehicle into a semi on Interstate 71 near Greenlawn Avenue.
First responders transported the suspect to Grant Medical Center, where they were listed in stable condition. No injuries to the truck driver were reported.
The suspect, who was found to have an outstanding felony warrant, has been charged with more felonies. An investigation remains underway.
